Affirmation for the day:

I am a sovereign, sentient* being. No one, no thing can affect my energy without my permission.

Now to put the affirmation to practice. Welcome every opportunity where you give your power away, because it is an opportunity for practice!

Helpful tip: Dr. Joe Dispenza suggests invoking the moniker “change” when you first start down the road with some version of “I don’t like/want/need this.”

Saying “change” is a good idea, but I’d add the breath. Conscious breathing gives you that wee window to make that choice to reaffirm and honor your sovereignty.

Say “change”, like you mean it, even if it’s silent. Then inhale for four seconds, hold it at the top of your head for four seconds, now exhale for another four. The counting with the breath will aid in interrupting any stress chemicals before they get a running start in the body. Repeat as necessary.

Now welcome your opportunities, and the chance to practice a whole new way of being! Change does take practice and commitment.

As this sovereign, sentient being, keep this in mind:

“Understand now — you can no longer complain.” Dr. Joe Dispenza

Bold statement, eh?! Because mostly everybody’s doing it, right?!

What’s wrong with complaining? It’s an outer reality-centric stance. It means you have declared that external circumstances dictate how you think and feel. One can’t be a sovereign, sentient being, and a complainer.

Complaining also says I am a victim of external situations and people. “They” or “it” make me feel such and such.

Complaining also releases stress chemicals in the body, that lead to disorder, illness, and decline in the body.

Yes, it can be hard to change old habits that have a well worn groove. How to change them then? One awareness at a time. Notice where the tendency to complain shows up, and consciously choose to withdraw your attention from it. But this is not a grin and bear it exercise. Won’t change a darn thing that way.

If your choices are to complain or stifle it, then spend more time in meditation or whatever leaves you knowing and feeling the “rapture of being alive”.**

The external world gets way less enticing when what goes on inside is a love affair with your God. You’ll eventually want that more than anything.

*  sentient being can be defined as a consciously aware being

Gimme Ten

I decided to incorporate affirmations during my exercise.  I do Pilates, but it doesn’t matter what you do.  If you are laying down, standing up, or walking, affirmations can be incorporated at any time.

We are all aware of the old exercise mantra: no pain, no gain.  That’s a negative affirmation.  Truth is, we are stating affirmations every day, so it’s beneficial to consciously direct the flow of those affirmations and be selectively discerning with our self-talk.

This could be a whole new wave of all exercise, incorporating mantras or affirmations.  Affirming and fully integrating the mind, body and spirit all at once.  It puts a whole other spin on “gimme 10”.  Instead of 10 pushups, how about 10 affirmations?!

Here’s an example of some of my affirmations, feel free to use them and/or make up your own:

I feel myself fully supported and grounded in the earth. (breathe and really feel the connection here as if there’s a golden cord that runs from the earth and up through your feet, all the way up through your spine and out the top of your head.)

My physical, mental, and energetic bodies are fluid and flexible.

I sink deeper into my stretches with every breath, and consciously acknowledge my connection to Spirit flowing through every cell of my being.

I allow the highest source of goodness to flow through me now.

I am present in this moment, allowing the comfort of a strong body to be my most natural state.

My body guides me to just the right movements.   I nourish and trust in my body.

Forgiveness

This is the second highest ranked post for having been shared through Internet circles.  Five years since its original posting, it certainly deserves another read through:

Affirmations

These are affirmations written by Louise Hay.  Anyone working with
forgiveness/self-forgiveness and EFT, I think these would be wonderful
to turn into an EFT script.  They stand alone well as affirmations, if you
believe them.  If you don’t believe them, you can tap on that too, by saying
how you don’t believe you are ready to be healed or whatever affirmation that
doesn’t resonate with you yet.  “I don’t believe, I don’t think I’ll ever believe,
it’s taking me so long to believe, I do this stuff over and over and it still
doesn’t sink in”.  Those are just examples, take your disbelief, blow it up
as big as you can while tapping and watch what happens, it has a tendency
to just dissipate and be neutralized.

The door to my heart opens inward. I move through forgiveness to love.

Today I listen to my feelings, and I am gentle with myself. I know that
all of my feelings are my friends.

The past is over, so it has no power now. The thoughts of THIS moment create
my future.

It is no fun being a victim. I refuse to be helpless anymore. I claim my own power.

I give myself the gift of freedom from the past, and move with joy into the now.

I get the help I need, when I need it, from various sources. My support system
is strong and loving.

There is no problem so big or so small that it cannot be solved with love.

I am ready to be healed. I am willing to forgive. All is Well.

When I make a mistake, I realize that it is only part of the learning process.

I move beyond forgiveness to understanding, and I have compassion for all.

Each day Is a new Opportunity. Yesterday is over and done.
Today is the first day of my future.

I know that old, negative patterns no longer limit me. I let them go with ease.

I am forgiving, loving, gentle, and kind, and I know that Life Loves Me.

As I forgive myself, it becomes easier to forgive others.

I love and accept my family members exactly as they are right now.

As I change my thoughts, the world around me changes.

I forgive myself for not being perfect. I am living the very best way I know how.

I cannot change another person. I let others be who they are, and I simply love who I am.

It is now safe for me to release all of my childhood traumas and move into love.

I know that I cannot take responsibility for other people. We are all under the law of our own consciousness.

I return to the basics of life: forgiveness, courage, gratitude, love, and humor.

Everyone in my life has something to teach me. We have a purpose in being together.

I forgive everyone in my past for all perceived wrongs. I release them with love.

All of the changes in life that lie before me are positive ones. I am safe.

I’m back!  So I’ve been to a Wisdom of Your Face retreat for 5 days and it was truly transformational.  I have to tell everyone in the new age community who loves learning about new models of thought, check this out.  You may have not seen anything like this.  Louise Hay and the author of The Wisdom of Your Face, Jean Haner are collaborating on a book together.  Louise Hay, herself, has said this is the most fascinating material she has come across in the last 10 or 15 years.  Pretty amazing stuff, if it’s impressing Louise Hay.

Now for the big news.  This retreat took place in a mountain lodge up in the majestic Cascade mountains of Washington state.  There were less than two dozen of us and guess who was there?  OMG!!  Louise Hay!  I was so starstruck and I even told her so, among other things.  Her gracious reply to me was, “I’m just a person”.  Yes, just a person who happens to be one of the forerunners in the new age community for the late 20th century.  Just a person who is the mother of affirmations.  Just a person who has influenced, inspired and motivated millions of people. Wow!

I have some notes from Louise for all of you that are appended below.  I agree with Louise (look, I’m already on a first name basis with her :), this is the most exciting material I’ve recently come across.  It’s the next modality I will be studying.  I won’t be able to share much from it right now because it is highly specialized.  However, if there is anyone who can distill and simplify material and make it user friendly, it’s me.  If you would like to get a taste of what the material is about, visit the website link above and consider signing up for the newsletter.  I believe she adds celebrity face readings to those.

First I’d like to blend two ideas, one from Louise the other from Jean the author.  Louise talked about living a life of making decisions.  She is 83, she began this decade deciding that her 80s would be the best decade of her life.  She looks and acts as if she is living it.  So the power is in the decision, simple and clear.  What Jean adds to this is the idea of making tiny decisions or tiny changes incrementally that add up to an eventual tipping point.

Let’s use an example: you feel stuck in your life, want new things to flow in.  Consider making a tiny decision to clear out a drawer or the top of a closet.  Next week or every other week clear out a little more clutter.  When we release things we no longer need, it frees up space to bring new energy into our life.  That’s just one example, apply this to anything you want to enhance or change in your life.  Do you love being around people but find yourself stuck indoors a lot, perhaps you even isolate yourself.  Go downtown or into town, where there are people around, make eye contact with them, pick up some friendly conversation with the store clerk, for instance.  Is your life busy, busy, busy, constantly on the go?  Are you exhausted as a result?  What tiny thing can you do to replenish yourself?  Could you go to bed 30 minutes earlier?  Could you knock off a few minutes on your workout routine just to sit and breathe mindfully?  Tiny decisions, tiny changes, incrementally add up to a tipping point.

The notes I took from Louise Hay’s short talk:

Make decisions about how your life will unfold.
Do mirror work – say in the mirror every day, no matter how uncomfortable it feels at first: I love you.  I really love you.
Affirmations:  All is well.  Only good lies before me.
What you put in your body in terms of choice of thoughts and choice of food determines the quality of your life.
When faced with a challenging situation, LH will say this 300x a day if necessary:

All is well.
Everything is working out for my highest good.
And out of this experience, only good will come.
I am safe.

She gave us a well being card with that last affirmation on it.  I have it autographed!  Goosebumps over here!

Those of you in Chicago and the West Coast are in for a treat because that’s where Jean Haner usually does her work.  Check out the website, if she’s at a bookstore near you doing a face reading, go, go, go!  I promise you if learning something new lights you up, you will not regret it.
