This is the second highest ranked post for having been shared through Internet circles.  Five years since its original posting, it certainly deserves another read through:

These are affirmations written by Louise Hay.  Anyone working with
forgiveness/self-forgiveness and EFT, I think these would be wonderful
to turn into an EFT script.  They stand alone well as affirmations, if you
believe them.  If you don’t believe them, you can tap on that too, by saying
how you don’t believe you are ready to be healed or whatever affirmation that
doesn’t resonate with you yet.  “I don’t believe, I don’t think I’ll ever believe,
it’s taking me so long to believe, I do this stuff over and over and it still
doesn’t sink in”.  Those are just examples, take your disbelief, blow it up
as big as you can while tapping and watch what happens, it has a tendency
to just dissipate and be neutralized.

The door to my heart opens inward. I move through forgiveness to love.

Today I listen to my feelings, and I am gentle with myself. I know that
all of my feelings are my friends.

The past is over, so it has no power now. The thoughts of THIS moment create
my future.

It is no fun being a victim. I refuse to be helpless anymore. I claim my own power.

I give myself the gift of freedom from the past, and move with joy into the now.

I get the help I need, when I need it, from various sources. My support system
is strong and loving.

There is no problem so big or so small that it cannot be solved with love.

I am ready to be healed. I am willing to forgive. All is Well.

When I make a mistake, I realize that it is only part of the learning process.

I move beyond forgiveness to understanding, and I have compassion for all.

Each day Is a new Opportunity. Yesterday is over and done.
Today is the first day of my future.

I know that old, negative patterns no longer limit me. I let them go with ease.

I am forgiving, loving, gentle, and kind, and I know that Life Loves Me.

As I forgive myself, it becomes easier to forgive others.

I love and accept my family members exactly as they are right now.

As I change my thoughts, the world around me changes.

I forgive myself for not being perfect. I am living the very best way I know how.

I cannot change another person. I let others be who they are, and I simply love who I am.

It is now safe for me to release all of my childhood traumas and move into love.

I know that I cannot take responsibility for other people. We are all under the law of our own consciousness.

I return to the basics of life: forgiveness, courage, gratitude, love, and humor.

Everyone in my life has something to teach me. We have a purpose in being together.

I forgive everyone in my past for all perceived wrongs. I release them with love.

All of the changes in life that lie before me are positive ones. I am safe.

Earlier in the month I was in the midst of an intensive 6 day training in Sourthern California.  This was part one of three parts leading to certification as a Chinese Face Reader.  It’s a subject I find fascinating, to say the least, and so does Louise Hay!  She has said that it’s the most exciting material she’s come across in the last 15 years.  If you are curious about Chinese Face Reading, click on the Wisdom of Your Face link in the right hand column of this blog under Favorite Things.

In the middle of training I thought, “I can’t do this” and I’ve armed myself with a litany of reasons detailing why I can’t!  There’s 60,000 facts about the face I must commit to memory.  Ok, that’s only a slight exaggeration, it feels like 60,000!   I’m supposed to be in my heart not my head to be a face reader.  Ok, that settles it, I can’t do it!  My spirit sunk with that notion.  Pack your bags, Bethie, because you cannot do this.

But wait, then I remembered the weekly powerful question I’d received that week.  These are questions I sit with, I don’t answer them immediately, instead I roll the question around like a shiny penny in my hand, feeling first around the edges of it.  So, what was the weekly powerful question, you ask?!  It was very simply: “What if I could?”

What if I could?  Here I was all bound up in I can’t do this, no way, no how.  I then recall — what if I could? — and instantly I am drawn into the life giving expansiveness of potential.  What if I could?  What if I asked that question of all my doubts and all my “I can’ts”.

I think I love it the most because I am not trying to convince myself I can.  Yes I can, feels like a quantum leap that I have to convince myself into and this also has the flavor of tight, contracted and all bound up.  But entertaining a “what if I could” is just a little, tiny, infinitesimal turn of the dial in the affirmative direction.  So small a step that lifts me up and out of my own gray prison walls and into the brightness of possibility and potential.

What if I could?  It’s a deep breath of fresh air.  A little question to ponder and there, right there, is the wide open receptive spaces of freedom.  Ok then, maybe I can :).

I was flipping through my well being cards the other day.  For those of you familiar with Abraham Hicks, you know what I am referring to here.  These, however, are homemade well being cards.  I use colored index cards and then I put quotes on them that inspire me.  I have decks of them all over the house and in my purse, as I’ve been doing this for a good number of years now.  I go through each deck a couple of times a week and put one out, front and center, that I want to focus on that day or that week.  I’ll read it and take a few conscious deep breaths and really sink into the deep well of wisdom I find in them.

It’s been awhile since I posted any of the quotes on my well being cards.  I have a bunch more now and as I read them to myself today, I was blown away by the sage wisdom in these cards.  This collection is quoting some of my friends, mentors, spiritual teachers, authors and then there are a few of my own words.

As I type them out now for you, I fancy myself the Inspiration Fairy.  Ummm, because … I can!  And I am waving my wand about the air, while sparkles of brilliant wisdom fly out from the tip of my wand.  Slowly they float down to you, leaving your world ablaze in a million fireflies, illuminating all your paths forevermore.  And so it is.

I’m back!  So I’ve been to a Wisdom of Your Face retreat for 5 days and it was truly transformational.  I have to tell everyone in the new age community who loves learning about new models of thought, check this out.  You may have not seen anything like this.  Louise Hay and the author of The Wisdom of Your Face, Jean Haner are collaborating on a book together.  Louise Hay, herself, has said this is the most fascinating material she has come across in the last 10 or 15 years.  Pretty amazing stuff, if it’s impressing Louise Hay.

Now for the big news.  This retreat took place in a mountain lodge up in the majestic Cascade mountains of Washington state.  There were less than two dozen of us and guess who was there?  OMG!!  Louise Hay!  I was so starstruck and I even told her so, among other things.  Her gracious reply to me was, “I’m just a person”.  Yes, just a person who happens to be one of the forerunners in the new age community for the late 20th century.  Just a person who is the mother of affirmations.  Just a person who has influenced, inspired and motivated millions of people. Wow!

I have some notes from Louise for all of you that are appended below.  I agree with Louise (look, I’m already on a first name basis with her :), this is the most exciting material I’ve recently come across.  It’s the next modality I will be studying.  I won’t be able to share much from it right now because it is highly specialized.  However, if there is anyone who can distill and simplify material and make it user friendly, it’s me.  If you would like to get a taste of what the material is about, visit the website link above and consider signing up for the newsletter.  I believe she adds celebrity face readings to those.

First I’d like to blend two ideas, one from Louise the other from Jean the author.  Louise talked about living a life of making decisions.  She is 83, she began this decade deciding that her 80s would be the best decade of her life.  She looks and acts as if she is living it.  So the power is in the decision, simple and clear.  What Jean adds to this is the idea of making tiny decisions or tiny changes incrementally that add up to an eventual tipping point.

Let’s use an example: you feel stuck in your life, want new things to flow in.  Consider making a tiny decision to clear out a drawer or the top of a closet.  Next week or every other week clear out a little more clutter.  When we release things we no longer need, it frees up space to bring new energy into our life.  That’s just one example, apply this to anything you want to enhance or change in your life.  Do you love being around people but find yourself stuck indoors a lot, perhaps you even isolate yourself.  Go downtown or into town, where there are people around, make eye contact with them, pick up some friendly conversation with the store clerk, for instance.  Is your life busy, busy, busy, constantly on the go?  Are you exhausted as a result?  What tiny thing can you do to replenish yourself?  Could you go to bed 30 minutes earlier?  Could you knock off a few minutes on your workout routine just to sit and breathe mindfully?  Tiny decisions, tiny changes, incrementally add up to a tipping point.

The notes I took from Louise Hay’s short talk:

Make decisions about how your life will unfold.
Do mirror work – say in the mirror every day, no matter how uncomfortable it feels at first: I love you.  I really love you.
Affirmations:  All is well.  Only good lies before me.
What you put in your body in terms of choice of thoughts and choice of food determines the quality of your life.
When faced with a challenging situation, LH will say this 300x a day if necessary:

All is well.
Everything is working out for my highest good.
And out of this experience, only good will come.
I am safe.

She gave us a well being card with that last affirmation on it.  I have it autographed!  Goosebumps over here!

Those of you in Chicago and the West Coast are in for a treat because that’s where Jean Haner usually does her work.  Check out the website, if she’s at a bookstore near you doing a face reading, go, go, go!  I promise you if learning something new lights you up, you will not regret it.

Yet you may open the door on any given day to a probable world from your
immediate standpoint, and never know the difference.

This happens all the time, and I mean all the time.

Seth -The Nature of the Psyche
Session 797, Page 203

This follows along nicely with my new mantra that anything can change
in an instant.  And I think I’ve actually stumbled upon a practice that has
led me to experience other probable realities immediately, just as Seth says:
it happens all the time.

I first wrote about it in The Art of Revision and then a follow up post on
Playing It Forward.  This is where I am utilizing Neville’s technique of
revising my day just before I go to sleep and then pre-paving it just before
I get out of bed.  My emphasis has not been on the events of the day them-
selves but on how I want to feel.

Now I’ve added a new practice and that is to stop in the instant that I feel
I’m in a ‘this sucks’ moment.  Stop, withdraw my attention from it and go
within.  I go within to my imagination and find the feeling place of how I
would prefer to feel.  I wait till I feel as if I have embodied that feeling.  At the
moment of embodiment a deep breath of satisfaction just seems to naturally
well up from donning the feeling.  A shift has occurred, another probable
world has been entered, where everything has changed in my inner world
in an instant.   And the truth that remains is I can no longer be held captive
by the events of the outer world.  The outer world can do what it does, I am
independent of any facts.  I do not face any reality unless it’s a reality I wish
to reproduce in my experience.

Well, not only have I stumbled upon a beautiful practice with the help of
Neville’s teachings – I’ve found true personal freedom and I’ve developed
a process that is so self-friendly, so loving, so true to one’s self.   I have
always loved Louise Hay’s mantra: only good lies before me.  However,
there were times I didn’t believe it.  I believe it now.

Mirror Work by Louise Hay —

“I love you ____________ ____.”

Insert your own name on the line!

I really, really love you. You are my best friend, and I enjoy living my life with you.

Experiences come and go; however, my love for you is constant. We have a good life
together, and it will only get better and better. We have many wonderful adventures
ahead of us, and a life filled with love and joy.

All the love in our lives begins with us. I love you. I really love you.

I talk to you with love.

Affirm: I forgive myself and I set myself free.

Heavy dependence upon anything outside myself is addiction.
I can be addicted to drugs and alcohol, to sex and tobacco; and
I can also be addicted to blaming people or judging people, to
illness, to debt, to being a victim, to being rejected. Yet, I can move
beyond these things. Being addicted is giving up my power to a
substance or a habit. I can always take my power back.

This is the moment I take my power back!

I choose to develop the positive habit of knowing that life is here
for me. I am willing to forgive myself and move on. I have an eternal
spirit that has always been with me, and it is here with me now.
I relax and let go, and I remember to breathe as I release old habits
and practice positive new ones.

Can you imagine how wonderful it would be if you
could live your life without ever being criticized by
anyone? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to feel totally at
ease, totally comfortable? You would get up in the
morning, and you would know you were going to
have a wonderful day, because everybody would
love you and nobody would criticize you or put you
down. You would feel just great.

You know what?

You can give this to yourself. You can make the
experience of living with you the most wonderful
experience imaginable. You can wake up in the
morning so thrilled to find yourself and feel the joy
of spending another day with you.

The above was written by Louise Hay in Heart
Thoughts: A Treasury of Inner Wisdom. There are
many beautiful expressions in that book. My friend
Reggie recently commented how one of Louise Hay’s
writings could be turned into an eft script.

This delicious idea of using eft to neutralize old beliefs and
install new beliefs. If I took the above writing and turned
it into an eft script, it might read like this:

I imagine how wonderful my life can be free of self criticism.

I am willing to release self-criticism one thought at a time.

I am willing to treat myself with compassion, respect and kindness.

I am open to knowing what it can feel like to be at ease
and totally comfortable with myself.

I can imagine the possibility that today is going to be a wonderful
day and my encounters with others will feel infused with mutual love
and respect for each other.

I am willing to make the experience of living with myself the most
wonderful experience imaginable.

I am willing to wake up in the morning so thrilled to feel the joy of spending
another day with my favorite person: me.

And finally:

eyebrow point: I am willing…
side of the eye: I am willing….
under the eye: I am willing….
under the nose: I am willing….
under the chin: I am willing….
collar bone: I am willing….
side of the body: I am willing….
top of the head: I am so willing!

Love, Bethie

I am neither too much nor too little. I do not have to prove
to anyone or anything who I am. I have come to know that
I am the perfect expression of the Oneness of Life. In the
Infinity of Life I have been many identities, each one a perfect
expression for that particular lifetime. I am content to be who
and what I am this time. I do not yearn to be like someone else
for that is not the expression I chose this time. Next time I will
be different. I am perfect as I am, right here and right now. I am
sufficient. I am one with all of Life. There is no need to struggle
to be better. All I need to do is to love myself more today than
yesterday and to treat myself as someone who is deeply loved.
As I am cherished by myself, I will blossom with a joy and beauty
that I can barely begin to comprehend. Love is the nourishment
that humans need to fulfill their greatness. As I learn to love
myself more, I learn to love everyone more. Together we lovingly
nourish an ever more beautiful world. We are all healed and the
planet is healed too. With joy I recognize my perfection and the
perfection of life. And so it is.

You know how Abraham has a deck of Well Being cards?
I loved the idea so much that I made up my own Well Being
cards.  I put them on brightly colored 3×5 cards and pull out
different ones as I am inspired.  Here’s the one that I chose
for tomorrow.  I love the feeling of flow and ease in this quote.

“As God in expression, you can relax, for this Universe is
a safe and loving place where life flows harmoniously the
instant you stop struggling to achieve harmony.”

Love, Bethie
