Oh, it’s that time of year again! I re-post this poem I wrote in ’09 every Spring now. This year the cherry blossoms beckon to be teased out. Perhaps they will hear the soft echo of this poem in the air, coaxing them every so gently, come be with us…we sing your praises…you won’t be here for long, but we notice, oh, yes, we do notice!
o, to be held captive
inside your cherry blossoms
pinned to your creamy folds
like a bumble bee chubby with pollen
too deliciously full to move
until I am drunk with your fragrance
intoxicated with wonderment
stunned with awe
speechless with amazement
and tumble out onto the splendid
soft green earth filled with the
pulsing passion of being alive

ah…elizabeth….that book of poetry is filling up!
This is beautiful. I was going to take out the last line and say I loved it best but when I went to start to copy and paste I kept copying a little more and more until I would have copied the whole poem!
:) It’s a rerun Sis, I wrote it 4/7 of last year. That is very telling cuz I stood in front of my weeping cherry tree blossoms last year watching the bumble bees chubby with pollen and wrote the poem. And this year, the blossoms are long gone and it is nearly completely leafed out! Spring came maybe 5 or 6 weeks ahead of time. “pinned to your creamy folds” is my favorite line, my friend Lisa says it’s suggestive of … things :)
:) okay I went back and read it after you said it was suggestive….and uh…now it is LOL
still love it, you are a talented poet!
:)
thank you Maryellen!
and the bumble bee’s gotta chubby ;-)
sorry i couldn’t help myself….
It’s my first day on the planet, Amy, I just landed here and don’t have one solitary clue what you are inferring here. LOL.
Sometimes it is good to see things as if you have just landed on this planet. I think you get a fresh prespective to the world and no preconseptions. A wonderful poem. You are very talented.
Thank you so much Monica. It’s funny you put it just that way about having just landed on this planet. I used to look at life and things exactly like that! Occasionally I still do, it keeps me amused!
Pure heaven…Thank you for sharing again! xo
Thank you so much “luggage lady” (which never ceases to make me smile :-) )
Any poem with the word “chubby” in it has my affection! Thank you for your words! I have been wandering around my neighborhood poking my nose in various blossoms feeling delighted. It’s all so beautiful and springy – and so I shall leap and spring intoxicatingly along with the bees and tumble as I will.
Hey, you!! So happy to see you here. I was reading a post earlier this week where you first introduced yourself on my blog. Are you still in New Mexico? I was showing my hubbie your designs a few weeks ago, as an example of a premiere web designer. He was impressed, as am I! XO
