Sophie’s Choice, as some of you may remember was an American film from the early 80s. Since then the term “Sophie’s Choice” has come to symbolize a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” standard of choice. It’s really the no-choice. As in the movie, Sophie must make the choice between her son living or her daughter living, choose one and the other must die.
Often when we are wrestling with a problem, we don’t see outside of the paradigm of a Sophie’s Choice. We might see two options and often apart from the framework of our current beliefs lies a third choice. The one not yet visible to us. To illustrate an example of this, often creative people, musicians, writers, artists, etc. want to make their livelihood doing what they love but they don’t see how that could happen. In that case, following your passion may signify losing financial security. We have even coined a term for it “the starving artist”. Risk going for your passion and you risk everything or maintain the status quo, bang away at the passion-less job and have some measure of financial security. That’s the either/or, the Sophie’s choice, the no choice at all.
Yet outside that system of beliefs, lies the third option. The third choice is not the either/or posture for whenever you are contemplating – to have this, I must risk losing this – you can know instantly you are working within the framework of your own limiting beliefs. While you may not know what the third option is you can remain open to knowing what it is. In a world that spins planets, regulates the tides, raises the sun each day and orchestrates countless precise details happening behind the scenes of every living organism, we can begin to see this same Universe can work on our behalf to bring us all the resources that we would ever need and then some. It requires one thing of us and it’s what we are willing to believe, what we are willing to give ourselves to and what we are willing to open ourselves to. Okay, that’s three things it requires of us but who’s counting?!
Next time you find yourself smack dab in the middle of a dilemna that you can’t see your way out of, remember – there is a third option, you haven’t seen it yet, you may not know what it is, but you can remain open to knowing and you can begin by questioning any notion that says: to have this I must relinquish this.
well dear bethie i am right smack dap in the middle of this EXACT subject and sort of have been for … let us call it, a W H I L E…. and if ther is one thing i want more than anything to see and understand vicerally it is this THIRD choice…. I have loved mostly these past 48 months of giving it my best shot to live from an inspired place and continue to pursue my art whatever my art of the moment may be…
i am doing this with my mate,each of us in our own way, unravellng as many “beliefs” as we can… and allowing ourselves to continue to look towards what we want… a life of freedom manifestational freedom and being supported in every way. For me like learning to float in these past 2 1/2 yrs.. i want to KNOW that I am completely supported by source…
i get scared, when i cannot seem to allow the $ resources to come to me to take care of the basic stuff of my life… shelter, elec, food, etc and then i look for how these things are taken care of and i am ok again for a while until the next wave seems to crash against the shore of our material existance…
48 months…. i still get scared… takes awhile i guess for me to unravel that ball of twine…
i want to belive, i want to KNOW… I want it yes I do.
abe says our action does not create our abundance and i want to understand how that is true… my action is to enjoy that which i have created… i want to know that also.

We create our own reality by our thinking. In order to get what we want we need to create a “Mental Fitness=what we would like to achieve” in our mind.
You can only keep one thought at a time in your mind. When a “negative” thought like “fear” appears you need to immediately replace it with a “posititive” thought.
A “positive” thought =”what I want to achieve”.
A “negative” thought is a thought connected to some kind of fear.
See yourself within your mind already achieving what you want to achieve. Make it emotional. FEEL IT…
Work on this on a daily basis. Catch yourself when you experience a negative thought and replace them with a positive thought, your life will improve within 30 days.
Keep this exercise up for 3 months and your life will dramatically change for the better.
In addition to the above, every night before you go to sleep, spend 60 seconds seeing yourself already having accomplished what you would like to accomplish.

The above exercises works for ANYTHING you would like to accomplish in life, from getting to your perfect weight to “making” it in the world. Just make sure that you really KNOW what you want….
If you are interested to find out why your life turned out the way it has so far, you need to get back in time to find the thought that triggered that specific event.
There might be a time lag that is quite substantial.
YOU are the creator of your life. We create by our thoughts.
A fearful thought will manifest itself the same way as a positive thought. If you keep thinking about “stuff” that you do not want to happen the constant thinking about it will make it happen. Weird but true.
That is why it is SO IMPORTANT to keep your thoughts positive and for them to reflect the way you would like “things” to be.
