Falling Slowly ~ Once

This is a first for my little blog of 18 months or so – it’s first audio file.  I’ve chosen the words and music to Falling Slowly from the album and movie entitled Once.   The song won an Oscar in what was a very low budget film against two big Disney songs earlier this year.  The movie is a beautiful, tender, often poignant and funny piece that invites you to curl up some evening to laugh and cry, truly it will touch you in ways you hadn’t expected.  Raise your hopeful voice is one of my favorite lines from this song.  The whole soundtrack is every bit as good as its Oscar winning song.   Enjoy…Love, Bethie

I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
Well you have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing it loud.

Glen Hansard, Markéta Irglová
