This poem is a favorite of mine; I wrote it three years ago. The first verse is the tag line you see whenever you visit Simply Blessed. The “Beloved” I refer to here is God or Spirit, Universe, Field, Source, All That Is.
The poem illustrates a melding of two beliefs: there is no place where God is not and Abraham’s idea that you can never get it wrong. Hence, life or love never fails — you never fail. God is with you always no matter how exhilarated you feel or how low and un-impassioned you feel. God is with you in both the simplicity and the complexity of your lives. God, Spirit, the ineffable, the mysteriously indefinable, is that which courses through you continuously without end.
I have fallen between the cracks
and landed in the spaces
where love never fails
Beloved, you are my captor
and I am bound by your love
I hear you whisper softly
don’t speak. words fail here, just listen
churning on the seas of your desire
I am the rising and the falling
the beginning and the ending
the fullness and the emptiness
journey to the furthest point of your yearning
I am the anguish and the exaltation
I am the grain of sand awakening the pearl
I am the morsel you are tasting
be it bitter or sweet
quench your deepest thirst here
where you think I’m not
I Am.

I love the images and sentiments expressed in your poem. Simply lovely and memorable. Thank you.
That’s so powerful, Beth. I love the last lines;
where you think I’m not
I am
So knowing.
thank you so much. love jules
This is beautiful!
Thank you everyone, your appreciation means the world to me!
ahhhh….. so so so … sweet.
Beautiful poem. And very well crafted too – I am particularly envious of amateur poets who are technically proficient. You are. I hope you will write more.
Thanks so much “Z”. Any resemblance to technical proficiency is purely accidental. I know nothing about the technical aspects of crafting a poem. I am the “accidental” poet then which amuses me. :)
P.S. in the category cloud of “elizabeth adams” is most of the poetry that I’ve written. That’s my pen name, also my maiden name. I’ve been posting it here for about two years.
Absolutely beautiful & so true!
Thank you Sandra. I love the focus of your blog.
What an exquisite, moving piece! Thank you, sincerely, for the gift of it.
Thank you so much Susan! I wandered over to your blog and read your last two posts and I must say I LOVE it. You really are quite the word smith and what a unique delivery of a message that I adore. I will definitely be following you further.
Many blessings, Beth
Hi Beth,
What a beautiful poem! My friend Verena, sent me an email sharing it today. And as the universe always provides what is needed in the moment, so it did today with your poem. A beautiful reminder.
I am a radio show host for KeystoClarity! Radio http://budurl.com/Louise and I plan to read your poem out on the show. The show today is all about transformation and self-mastery, and I thought it would be a wonderful way to kick off the show. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful gift. The show starts at 3pm ET. If you can’t make it to listen live, you can access the recording at the same link.
Namaste,
Louise
Louise, thank you so much. I am honored that you liked it enough to share it on the air. I did just get to listen to it on tape. I am deeply touched and very appreciative. Thank you again. Blessings, Beth
