This week a wise teacher reminded me of the old adage: all roads lead
to Rome.
I remember that at one time all roads did lead to Rome. But why do
we still say this today and what does it mean about life and the living
of it?
I believe it reveals that there are no wrong turns in life. How could
there be, in a world where everything is in a continual state of unfoldment?
And if all roads lead to Rome and there aren’t any wrong turns then we’re
always on the right path for us in the moment.
We may meander a bit, as most roads do. And that meandering is really
the stuff of life. It is also said that life is in the details. Life and living it,
isn’t just in the straight, unfettered path. It’s also in the crooked one. It’s
in all the turns that we once thought were wrong turns. It’s in all the side
trips and meanderings. It’s even in the “dead ends” as we come to remember
there are no spiritual dead ends; there’s always and infinitely something more.
May I now remember always there are no wrong turns, as all roads do lead
to my Rome. No big hurry here, I’ve got all the time in the world.

And reading this, I find myself thinking, too, of all the wonderful surprises that taking the “wrong turns” have lead me to.
Yes, I so know this to be true, too, Belle.
followed you here…. hmmm u been writing for a while. VERY nice, I had a blog here for a month or so then closed it out, i may do it again! xoAM
Hey Bethie, another lovely one to think on. But , you are not (in this lifetime) old enough to remember when all roads led to Rome!! LOL. (yes, they heat has definitely mushed up my brain)
I once took a writing class and the subject was something about living life on the goal-oriented paved road versus the detours that seem to make everyone(else) uncomfortable and feel they have “gotten off track”. All I could think was how my whole life is one GREAT Detour!! I’ve never had a “track”! I couldn’t relate to these folks at all! LOL
My great detour of the non-normal that led me straight to all these wonderful places and people and experiences!
My path is my own, my Rome is my Vortex, and it certainly is a winding, one some days.
thanks again for the thinking prod!

Hey Ann Marie! I was a slow starter for this blog and didn’t use many of my own words for awhile because I wasn’t willing to believe I had something to contribute. That’s old news now. However, I am for the most part in summer re-runs :) and re-posting oldies but goodies, with an occasional message from our Sponsor :). Now and then I sneak some new stuff in as I feel inspired.
Hi Desba! I know – there are gifts on every road and I think of all the people who have inspired me in this world, they’ve all been “off the beaten track”.
